my name's tara. you can call me birdie, if you want. i'm an artist who decided to take on a new adventure. and now you're here, so let's enjoy this experience we call life.
birdshi(r)t started with inspiration from the local music scene. i knew that those folks get their money from their merch sales, so i figured, why not make it locally? i asked for guidance from another local merchant, and the daydream became real. birdshi(r)t services local bands and small businesses, providing affordable, handmade printed wearables and collectables. collaboration is welcome.
Holly's Hope is a fundraising line where each purchase benefits local rescues and their mission - to find forever homes for animals that otherwise would be euthanized. When you order from the Holly's Hope line, we give back. The funds raised are gifted to local rescues to help offset the costs of medical attention and medicines, food, toys, beds, and other necessary items the animals may need.
Holly Louise
Holly was sick. Holly had cancer along with a number of other ailments. Most dogs like her who end up in the pound don't make it out. They spend their final days in a loud, chaotic, scary place with little to no hope. But, she made it out. She was lucky.
Holly's foster saw her and knew she needed saving. She contacted a local rescue and was able to pull Holly before she was euth'ed. The following months were painful and hard on Holly, but once she was able to recover from her surgeries and treatments, her beautiful soul began to shine through. Because of Holly's story, the rescue was able to raise enough funding to save a few dozen more who would not have had a chance otherwise.
Holly came home to us in April of 2021. This broken, abused, discarded soul was saved and given a second chance at life because of her foster. We provided the happily ever after. Holly was happy, silly, playful, gentle, and all around loving. When we brought home Piper in November of 2022, Holly became a puppy again. Our house became a home and our family was whole.
September of 2023, we were told Holly's cancer had returned and was spreading. Due to her age and medical history, she was now on pup hospice. We celebrated what we thought would be her last birthday with so many family and friends. We were given a prognosis of 6-12 months. We got just over 12 months. Holly made it to her 13th birthday. She played with us and Piper, she laid in the sun, she enjoyed so many cookies and new toys. She was happy. The following day, Holly crossed the Rainbow Bridge at home, surrounded by her family.
Holly's Hope - Beginning to Now
The idea of Holly's Hope started as a kitchen table conversation as we brainstormed ideas for another project coming in the next few years. We were looking for a way to give back to the pups. This fundraiser launched with birdshi(r)t so we could raise funds for rescues for Holly's birthday. Since it's launch, we've decided to keep it as a permanent run, helping furry friends where we can. Now that Holly is gone, we plan to keep her legacy alive with continued orders and donations.
Remember: Rescue means making second chances pawssible. Donate, Foster, Volunteer - Adopt, don't Shop
Rest easy, Holly Louise. You've more than earned it, Sunshine Pup. 💜🐾
